Serena Williams will almost never miss a big serve or a forehand winner, but when she got on stage with Beyoncé, she was so nervous that she missed a beat. The tennis superstar, who danced with Queen Bey in Lemonade, also got up on stage on the last stop of the Formation World Tour, and she admitted that it made her more jittery than any tennis tournament.
“It’s a lot of pressure because you don’t want to mess up. Bey is so great. She’s such a wonderful performer. I’ve performed tennis-wise in front of thousands of people, but not like crowds that huge,” she said on Friday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
“So all I could think was, ‘Serena, don’t miss your note. Don’t miss your note.’ And what did I do? I missed my note. I was like, ‘God dang it!’” she joked. “But then I was like, ‘Okay this is so fun. I don’t want to leave! I don’t want to leave!’ So I was trying to stay out there extra but eventually they told me in my ear, ‘Serena, get off the stage.’”

It turns out, dance is more than just a hobby for this famous athlete. “Me and my sister Venus, we come together every year for a big family event. We have dance teams, so we compete against each other. There are a few other teams as well,” she told DeGeneres.
“My particular team, which is the Cryptonians, we always say that one day we’re going to come dance on Ellen, kind of perform. So I’m going to take you up on that offer. I’ll give you guys a good show.”
