Time magazine knows that a picture is worth a thousand words, which is why some of its most moving pieces of journalism have been conveyed not through text, but with a powerful photograph.
To commemorate 175 years of outstanding photography, Time is launching 100 Photographs: The Most Influential Images of All Time ($24.95; shop.time.com), a multi-platform project that celebrates the outstanding photojournalism that the magazine has created and printed through the years.
From Jackie and John F. Kennedy’s iconic sailboat ride to the Beatles’ carefree pillow fight and even the Oscars selfie that became the world’s most retweeted photo, these photographs have shaped history, whether they intended to or not.
The full collection will launch on time.com/100photos, and is also available for purchase in individual prints or a collector’s edition coffee table book, 100 Photographs: The Most Influential Images of All Time, by the editors of Time.
