Confession time: We barely go a day without watching Friends. Funnily enough, one of its stars is in the same boat and it’s none other than Jennifer Aniston.
The actress revealed that she gets enthralled by the hit NBC TV program’s marathons like so many of us. She made an appearance on BBC’s The One Show on Monday to promote her new movie Office Christmas Party. Naturally, the discussion turned to all things Friends and how Aniston still tunes in for re-runs.
“I can’t help it,” she stated. “First, I’m trying to remember which episode it is, and then half the time I’m saying to myself, ‘I don’t remember that.’ You get sucked into the nostalgia of it.”
The Friends chat continued, with Aniston making another big revelation about the show’s catchy theme song, The Rembrandts’ “I’ll Be There for You.” “No one was really a big fan of that theme song,” she admitted. “We felt it was a little … I don’t know. Dancing in a pond? A fountain felt sort of odd.”
But wasn’t that the strange beauty of it all? “We did it because we were told to,” Aniston confirmed. Well, there go our nostalgic dreams!
Come back soon, Jennifer Aniston! 😍 Watch the friendliest of Hollywood stars again online here: bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0833dng 📺
Aniston was joined on the show with Office Christmas Party directors Josh Gordon and Will Speck. When asked whether the Emmy Award–winning actress was more like Rachel Green on Friends or her character Julia Harris in Horrible Bosses, Gordon disclosed: “I think she’s a little bit of both, right? I mean, she’s sweet and incredible, but in a good way, in a positive way, she’s also a boss. She has a point of view and she has a strong sense character. She wants to make sure that we’re doing the best we can on the scripts that we’re putting together.”
Aniston thought his response was on point, professing, “I think that’s a good take on me. I like that.”
The green sofa has never been so full, but it wasn’t complaining! The rather wonderful Jennifer Aniston makes friends with #TeamRickshaw, and has a chat with Ebony between live segments 👍😍 Catch on @bbciplayer if you missed.

The Cake star also divulged that she hopes to direct more projects in the future, instead of acting in them. “Being in front of the camera for so many years, you start to realize you’ve collected so much information and knowledge about it and how much fun that would be to step out from in front of the camera and go behind and see what you can do,” she said. “It’s just very fun.”
While we’re excited about Aniston’s future directing endeavors we’ll also be heading to the theaters Dec. 9 to see Office Christmas Party.
